You may combine forces with elysia_cron module
or at least use it as a guide to figure out some issues like #484240: Compatible with Poormanscron?
(take into account that it was released a year ago, has 5.x and 6.x versions, and offers some common features)

shunting commentedAgreed on joining forces. Elysia says it lets me get at the parameters of the cron jobs, but I'm also liking to be able to get at the cron hooks.
Together, these two modules would provide unbeatable functionality that I've been wanting for a long time.

MisterSpeed commentedI'm actually not too sure what this would entail if we were to merge code; implementing #483184: Define invocation periodicity will essentially nullify the differences between Elysia and SuperCron, making one of the two modules obsolete. Will ponder this some more.

niklp commentedOne of these two modules SHOULD be obsolete - they offer different things, but only mildly. If any further effort should be made, a concerted effort to merge the modules would be a good thing.
Maybe if the Elysia people are using this for a different setup they could just allow us to use an include file or something that would enable supercron with their functionality...? Not sure what their game is really.

mmilo commentedIs either side still interested in this?
Would be silly if the two modules continued to exist offering the same functionality into D7... ;)

MisterSpeed commentedHere's what we'll do for 1.4 until we hear back from Elysia: we're already including our scheduled-call feature that will let you specify, for example, that a certain cron hook should only be called so often, or between such and such time. This will include the majority of the features that Elysia has along those lines, although we will go with a reimplementation rather than a code merge. The last step is to be able to support their special hook that allows a module to specify its own preferred call rate. We'll try to merge that in version 1.4 as well.
