Just an opinion and the fact that I was getting errors due to the contents of certain lines in the settings.php file I added the $cookie_domain as a variable instead of adding it to the settings.php file.

Sorry for the removal of the blank lines and addition of blank lines. Haven't had this happen before. Maybe the line separator is different? I don't seem to have this issue with other modules I've patched.
