I'm using Mailhandler and Listhandler to populate a forum with posts from a listserv.
spamspan does not obfuscate the email address in these forums.

Do I need to make a config chance for spamspan to work?

Can you find the content type of your forum here /admin/settings/filters ?
If so have you activated anc configured the content type so the content runs through the filter?
If you've done that and don't see a change, try resaving the nodes.
