This may be a feature request.
I've been tinkering it with a bit to also get #671032: Standard group post in multiple group with Spaces to get og spaces to work with multi group posts, and while doing that I brought back the language selection, which I think disappeared with the one-group functionality. If not, than I'm mistken
Anyhow, what would be the appropriate path to have the space use the organic group's language? (ie og_set_language($group?))?
So far I've gotten it to work via simply editing og_spaces class, adding in the purl classe's activation function in and have it call the og_set_language there, but I would prefer a more solid way. The issue is it needs to be set early on so menus, etc. are correctly translated, I think (og does it in hook_init). I think I tried to do it in hook_init but something didn't catch, but it was yesterday and I don't have a memory.
Sorry if there's already a request for this in open_atrium forms or such.

yhahn commentedLet me see if I interpret this correctly.
You would like to use the OG language for each group but *also* have the group prefix be the language code associated with the group? (e.g. 'en', 'es', etc.) I think you may be able to accomplish this by
- Turn off language negotiation at admin/settings/language
- Just enter the language code as the prefix for each group manually
- You should have a language selection option out of the box if you turn on locale
Let me know if this works or any problems you run into.

Hm, guess I was unclear; I'm not interested in the prefix being the language prefix, as there can be multiple groups with the same language (ie 2 groups for USA, a Mexican group, a Spain group, etc.); what I want is when in the group space (anyhting prefixed with whatever the prefix is) the language for the group is used instead of site default, ie og_set_language is called to set the group's language, even when not on group homepage but still in the group's space.

yhahn commentedThis makes sense. Do you want to take a look at whether this commit gets you what you need?
