If i execute cron.php i receive following error. I use Maxmind Binary Lite release

Warning: fopen(http://download.maxmind.com/app/geoip_download?edition_id=133&suffix=tar...): failed to open stream: HTTP request failed! HTTP/1.0 401 Unauthorized in smart_ip_maxmind_bin_db_update() (Line 430 from /html/sites/all/modules/smart_ip/includes/smart_ip.utility.inc).

The same problem here:

$ drush cron -v
fopen(http://download.maxmind.com/app/geoip_download?edition_id=133&suffix=tar.gz&license_key=): failed to open stream: HTTP request failed!       [warning]
HTTP/1.1 401 Unauthorized
 smart_ip.utility.inc:430
WD smart_ip: Error during database download/extraction: internal corruption of phar                                                                [warning]
"ads/src/sites/default/private/files/smart_ip/GeoIPCity.tar.gz" (truncated entry)

also this happens on module enable.

I'm not sure why it's trying this request in my case as I am using the Lite version and have no license key.

Same problem here. this shows up occasionally in watchdog. I'm also using the lite version.

Setting the following variables to '0' worked for me.

smart_ip_maxmind_bin_db_auto_update
smart_ip_auto_update

I used drush but you could also use the devel modules variable editor.

I can't find a way to alter these values from the UI.

For the lite version, go to admin/config/people/smart_ip and set Automatic Maxmind binary database update to no.
