Upgrading 7.x-2 to 7.x-3

Throwing caution to the wind, I tried to upgrade from 7.x-2 to 7.x-3 by just uninstalling all slick modules, replacing 7.x-2 modules with 7.x-3 modules in sites/all/modules and then reinstalling.

It wouldn't allow me to enable the 7.x-3 module. I got a 500 error when trying to enable. Doh!

I manually deleted all instances of Slick from the DB, but it still wouldn't allow me to install Slick 7.x-3. Double doh!

For anyone daunted by the long procedure to upgrade from .2 to .3, the following worked for me, but I had no slick data I wanted to keep. Some of this paraphrases the official documentation, which of course supersedes this precis:

If you have slick carousel .tpl files (I didn't):
Remove. tpl files
Clear cache

Disable all slick modules except Slick

If you don't have Blazy already (I did):
Install autoload module
Install Blazy
(see upgrade documentation for more info)

Enable slick
Run update.php (there will be an error about the other modules missing from the modules folder - just continue)

Enable other Slick modules one at a time.

Voila!
