Site notes show up in search results, even for users who do not have access to them. These users get 'Access denied' if they click on the link in the search results.
It would be nice if there were some way of telling search to ignore these nodes, or to obey the access permissions when producing the search results. I'm not sure if that can be done from the site notes module side of things...

nancydruOh, wow. I don't use search on any of my sites so I don't know anything about it. Guess I'll need to try a test site and see what I can do.

nancydruEventually, we may see a "better" solution: http://drupal.org/node/111744
In the meantime, I've found a way to remove them from the search index. So, now down to some coding...

tamoraj commentedSounds good... Thanks for the rapid response!

nancydruI just committed a fix, it should show up in the next refresh.

tamoraj commentedNancy, many thanks, I've only just had a chance to implement your fix. It should be noted that one has to re-index the site to clear all site notes from the search results.
nancydruWell, with the fix in there now, hopefully no one else has them in their index.

nancydruI'm thinking about how to make searching site notes an option. I think this would be valuable to those who have lots of site notes. I think I can make it work in D5, but it should be much easier in D6.

nancydruHaving trouble getting the time to finish this. I haven't forgotten.
