Problem/Motivation

Currently, when using the Single Content Sync module to export or import content that includes an Image field with captions enabled (via the Image Field Caption module), the caption text is not included in the export or import process.

This causes captions to be lost after syncing content between environments. The image file is correctly handled, but its associated caption value is not preserved.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Create a content type with an Image field.
  2. Enable captions on that field using the Image Field Caption module.
  3. Add a node with an image and a caption.
  4. Export the node using Single Content Sync.
  5. Import the exported file.

After import, the image is present but the caption field is empty.

Proposed resolution

Extend Single Content Sync to include support for the image_field_caption data structure during export and import. This would allow captions to be serialized and restored along with the image reference.

Remaining tasks

  • Identify where image caption data is stored (likely as part of field data or a nested array in field settings).
  • Let's try to update the export/import process to include caption data.
  • Test with multiple images and multilingual captions if possible.

User interface changes

No UI changes are expected. This should be functionality enhancement only.

API changes

None expected beyond the possible inclusion of additional keys in the export data array.

Data model changes

Schema changes might not be required, only inclusion of the caption field values in YAML export/import.
