Some projects are working, but several others also just give a number when you select them.

I guess that's probably due to the fact that at the moment the real Drupal Core project is not at the top of the list when you search for it

hmm. Yes I do not even find drupal when I search for it.
Also strange that for many projects I just get these numbers instead of the project alias, and not able to test them.

Assigning myself. I think there is a relationship to the project import processing issue, found here: https://www.drupal.org/project/simplytest/issues/2938984#comment-12448168

Doesn't seem to be restricted to Drupal projects - looked through a random selection, and all display the same problematic behavior.

I'm going to take a stab at rebuilding the UI with composer -- see here: https://www.drupal.org/project/simplytest/issues/2939866#comment-12458880

This is a larger effort than fixing this issue, but it is worth making the investment to simplify this moving forward.

I don't think this is an issue any more.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Type in "Drupal"
2. Select "Drupal core" from the project list
3. Select the branch of core you wish
4. Click "Launch sandbox"

This works.

I did receive the following message "The website encountered an error" right after install.

The instance has an intermittent error being thrown, which is based on timing. The site install is just finishing but the instance redirects prematurely. A refresh will work. I'll file another issue.

Status: Fixed » Closed (fixed)

Automatically closed - issue fixed for 2 weeks with no activity.

I think one problem is that before this list was sorted by the popularity of the project, so you would get "Drupal core" on top when you started to search for "drupal". I think as it is not many people will not be able to find Drupal, like how should you know that you need to search for "Drupal core" and then scroll down on the list? Before it came as first alternative aftert writing "drup ..."
