To get the command line tool run-tests.sh running on my setup, I had to fix two problems:

  1. my localhost server runs at non standard port 8888, run-tests.sh ignores the port number I provide with the --url option. This resulted in a lot of fails because every GET returned 0 bytes.
  2. the code for verbose mode contains drupal7ish database stuff. As a result I got no verbose output.

attached patch solves these two problems for me

Title: problems with command line run-tests.sh » Drupal 7 style database code in run-tests.sh
Status: Needs review » Fixed

I only committed the D7 database change...the other needs to be put in core and backported.

Thanks.
