Just in case any one else stumbles on this.

Since mimemail/snews integration seemed to get sorted out back in 2008 - i assumed my issues were some odd config problem. Nope.

The -alpha1 version and latest mimemail rel do not work - only plain text emails are sent.

I upgraded to -alpha 2 of snews and grabbed latest dev of mimemail (maybe didn't need this) and HTML email now works.

I can confirm this.

The recommended releases do not work together for sending HTML email:
Simplenews 6.x-1.3
Mime Mail 6.x-1.0-beta1

Thank you liquidcms for discovering that the alpha versions will send in HTML, i was working on this for a long time.

These releases correctly send HTML email:
Simplenews 6.x-2.0-alpha2
Mime Mail 6.x-1.x-dev

Additional problems when upgrading Simplenews
I had problems upgrading to the Simplenews 6.x-2.0-alpha2, likely because I'm just an amateur at Drupal, but the table structures are different for 6.x-1.3 and 6.x-2.0-alpha2. The table structures were not updating, so I went into phpMyAdmin and manually added columns for the additional fields required in Simplenews 6.x-2.0-alpha2.

Having a similar problem and have done some testing. Seems that in either 6x-2-alpha or 6x-2-dev the MIME module doesn't get loaded when sending via cron. (I tried both the beta and dev of MIME and still had the same issue.)

When I send a test email, HTML (via MIME) if fine. When send via cron is off and I set a new newsletter to send, that also is fine. Only when it is sent via cron is there a problem. Looks like snews is sending the HTML format (you get inline links and some css etc) via cron runs, but MIME isn't hooking into these properly or something....?

No fix yet (I'm just sending manually/immediately as a work around), but will keep investigating.

Some people said they manually changed their databases so that it would work but didn't specify what they did. What are the manual changes to the databases that need to be done?

Dont work Module Mimemail take look, and html mail im intall and and over load server on wathdog table, don have alternative that use option of plain text drupal its very usefull but the modules ufff so much bugs
