I'd like to ask if the following example is possible using this nice module:
On the website's front page, there are 4 blocks for ads, in several positions, above, below or between other (custom/views/module) blocks:

- irrelevant block
- irrelevant block
- AD BLOCK 1
- irrelevant block
- AD BLOCK 2
- AD BLOCK 3
- irrelevant block
- irrelevant block
- AD BLOCK 4
- irrelevant block

12 ads are to be displayed in these 4 blocks randomly on every page load, let's say ad #1, #2, #3 ... #12 (ads are mixed type - some are adsense, some images ads etc).

On every page load, only 4 of these 12 ads should be displayed (randomly) on the 4 ads blocks. On the next page load, some 4 ads are again distributed randomly on these 4 ad blocks. In any case, no ad should appear multiple times on the same page. And all ad views should be distributed evenly, in a fair way for my clients.

Is that possible using the Simpleads module?
If it isn't, could you please suggest me possible ways to succeed this??

Hi Marios,
Yes this is possible.

1. Using Views: Please enable SimpleAds Block Example and create clones from that view.
2. Using Taxonomy Terms: Please create as many terms as you want in the ad group category.

Thank you for your quick response. I tried the following:

Created 4 taxonomy terms (ad groups) and that generated 4 different ad blocks. I placed these blocks in selected positions, only to appear on front page.
Then created 12 Simple Ad nodes and assigned them to all 4 ad groups.

Ads are displayed as expected on the front page and rotate but, sometimes, the same ad is displayed in different ad blocks (e.g. #3 in AD BLOCK 1 & AD BLOCK 3 on the same page load. What I want is to display different ads every time from this 12 ads "bank". As a result, every ad should gain the same (roughly) impressions (every ad viewed 4/12 = 1/3 times, out of total page views).

How can I make this happen?

Hi Marios,

I understand what you want, unfortunately this is not possible at the moment, but doable.
Some hints you could find in simpleads.api.php file.
You could also create some helper module that alters all ads displayed at the moment and exclude duplicates from each block (collect all ads in some kind of global variable) and the same for impressions (see hooks).

I think this is an important feature, as a rotating banner feature while avoiding duplicates would make this nice module even more popular :)

That's nice.

For the time being, I'm using DFP small business which works fine for my needs.
It's not what you could call a Drupal intergrated ad manager system but it serves my ads in a professional manner.
