When I attach a new file to a page that has a check mark in the "Only viewable by" Simple Access box, the check mark disappears. Each time I attach a new file to the page, I have to re-check the "Only viewable by" box.

jjeff commentedThis is happening when you hit the "attach" button?
Does this happen if you hit the "preview" button as well?

dtmatthes commentedYes, it happens when I hit the "preview" button, too. But I just discovered that if I hit "submit" first when attaching a file, instead of "attach," the check mark stays in the box. So it's not a huge issue. I suppose that if a person uses the same page often to attach new files, he or she could inadvertantly change access to the page without knowing about it by hitting "attach" or "preview." I'll just have to remember to hit "submit" instead, which is fine, because hitting the other two buttons causes the attached file to be listed by default, which is not what I want. Hitting "submit" attaches the file but does not list it.

tjharman commentedI've just noticed that this happens to me using the "preview" box.
I'm using Drupal 4.6, is there any patch to fix this? It's not a major bug, just a little annoying. I can see myself leaving some very personal blog entry open for all the world to see accidently!
(Yes, I know, if it's so private why am I posting it on the web in the first place? ;) )

Zed Pobre commentedOne of the other issue reports includes a patch that also fixes this problem.

dtmatthes commentedWhich patch is it that fixes this problem?

dtmatthes commentedI found the simple_access.patch by Bert Wynants that fixes the problem at http://drupal.org/node/32376 and it seems to work great. I also like how it encorporates the ability to set a default simple access setting for each node type.
