is there a way to set the access control on the content type level rather than individual nodes?

This is possible in the 6.x version but it was much easier to do there. I have not as of yet backported this, and I am not sure if I will have the time to do it.

This version of Simple Access is not supported anymore. The issue is closed for this reason.
Please upgrade to a supported version and feel free to reopen the issue on the new version if applicable.
