When I try to add a new index I get a SearchApiException after clicking Save. Here's the exact message displayed:

Drupal\search_api\SearchApiException: Unknown tracker plugin with ID '' in Drupal\search_api\Entity\Index->createPlugin() (line 342 of modules/contrib/search_api/src/Entity/Index.php).

It seems like a problem with the default tracker - is there some initial setup I need to do for this?

I'm running the latest dev versions of Search API and Search API Solr modules. A solr search server has been set up and can be reached.

I've just seen drunken monkey's comment on #2766827: setting datasource doesn't work about installing the module from fresh, so I tried this and now it works.

My error is probably highly related. Setting this as active as I can't uninstall and reinstall without configurations in a proper development workflow with Jenkins and/or Docker. Here is the error:

Drupal\search_api\SearchApiException: Unknown tracker plugin with ID '' in Drupal\search_api\Utility\PluginHelper->createIndexPlugin() (line 81 of modules/contrib/search_api/src/Utility/PluginHelper.php)

I can reproduce it every time using these steps:

Steps to reproduce:
1. Install Drupal 8 & Search API
3. Create Server and Index
4. Export configuration with `drush config-export`
5. Delete Drupal site
6. Install Drupal 8 & Search API
7. Import configuration from Step 4 with `drush config-import`
8. Delete the index, and try to add a new one
9. Observe the error mentioned

Notes: What is a "tracker" and how can we provide a default in the database when importing configurations? I am guessing this is missing from the configuration export.

This module does not export its configuration file on site-context config-export.
Added related issue. For now manual copying is required.
