errev commentedAnd what does that mean?
drunken monkeyIt means that it would be nice if you could follow the documentation on the Priority and Category fields in the future.
Please also take the time to write a clear description of what you want added or changed. I don't understand at all what you are trying to say.
errev commentedThank you Sir for your respond. I will follow.
And I was trying to say that the taxonomy widget is needed in exposed block (exposed block of view). The view that shows indexed content.
For example, I'm using taxonomy filter in view. And I expose this filter.
My taxonomy filter is hierarchical. And I need first choose the first item of vocabulary and after second that appears after I've chosen the first one.
There is no such a thing in view that shows indexed content.
Sorry for my English!
drunken monkeyAh, so you want a taxonomy term filter for search views where you first select the term from the highest level in the vocabulary, and can then drill down to more specific terms? I haven't seen that in use in a normal view, but I can imagine it and it does sound practical for some use cases.
In my opinion, however, it would be too specific for the Search API, which should stay as generic as possible. It could be included in another module, though.
As a workaround, you can just use facets. You have to activate the "Index hierarchy" data alteration for the field and then create a facet for it for which you set "Flatten hierarchy" to "No". You could then also re-style the facet block to look like you vision your exposed filter to look.
errev commentedYep Sir, you are right. Something like that. And the same as doing Simple Hierarchical Select and Hierarchical Select modules. But it is not compatable with Search API.
I'm not sure that facets can work for me ... I guess facets can not do dependant dropdown, but I will try
Comment #7
errev commentedI just spent some times with examing facets (aound one day and a half). I guess I don't fully understand how facet can help me.
I need it to be displayed just on front page.
My taxonomy is countries and cities list. Like that:
Deuchland
-Berlin
-Munchen
...
USA
-New York
-AL
...
Can the facet help me with this task?
Thank you!
drunken monkeyYes, they can. As said: You have to activate the "Index hierarchy" data alteration for the field and then create a facet for it for which you set "Flatten hierarchy" to "No". You could then also re-style the facet block to look like you vision your exposed filter to look.
Which part of this isn't working?
And you have an existing search on the front page? Otherwise, neither exposed filters nor facets would be readily possible, but you could use the "Facets block" Views display.
errev commentedMy search page is not front page. It is actually the biggest broblem.
Front page - mysite
Search result page - mysite/search.
I did the first steps as you told with setting "Flatten hierarchy" to "No".
But it is the dif pages.
Is it not a problem?
errev commentedI tried the first variant from https://drupal.org/node/2017007
and anyway it is on direct link to my page. I need to choose country after in second link city.
Is it direct link to my searching page? Am I correctly understand?
drunken monkeyI'm sorry, but I don't understand your last comments at all. Please try to rephrase, or maybe let someone with better English translate for you.
errev commentedI'm sorry for my English.
Okay.
I tried the first variant from https://drupal.org/node/2017007 and this variant didn't work for me . It provides the way of selecting just one link (of country in my case). And after linking on the country link the user is redirecting to search page. But I need to select on the front page the city as well.
My search page is different as front. Can I use facet to select 1. first country 2. second city. And just after selecting this two option to be directed to search page.
drunken monkeyAh, OK, now I understand! So you need some kind of Javascript mechanism to display the second level of options, without a new page load …
Then sorry, I don't think this is possible without some custom code, neither in Views nor with facets. Solving it in Views might be easier then, but I really can't say. But, in any case, you'd need some custom code to be written.
errev commentedOkay. Thank you!
Maybe do you know Simple Hierarchical Selec tmodule (https://drupal.org/project/shs)
Is it posible to integrate it with Search API views.
Thank you!
drunken monkeyI didn't know of that module, no, but basically an integration should be possible. Maybe that would be the easiest (or cleanest) way to solve your problem. However, coding would still be required, if you don't find someone who wants to implement this for you.
