I know that I could create a custom field 'index me' and use views to filter out results that should not be indexed but that isn't ideal. Would be much easier to have search_api provide the setting so that I don't need to update all my views and code interacting with the search_api.

Possible?
We would also need a permission option to allow this setting to be hidden from standard node authoring.
Optionally, the ability to set a default value per node type would be nice.
