I copied the HEAD version that appears on the download page as of today (November 25, 2006) into a drupal 5beta1 instantiation. This test site is upgraded from my site running on 4.7.4. That site has search404 installed correctly and I wanted to get it installed on 5beta1 and see if it would work.
Here's what I saw, and did.
First, "Search 404" doesn't appear in the admin panels. It doesn't appear in the access control. It did not appear in the module listing until I added the following file named search404.info:
name = Search 404
description = Search 404
dependencies = search
package = "Search"
Second, If I go to the URL admin/settings/search404 it doesn't bring up the search404 admin page.
Third, the module works. If I request some j/random/URL it does properly do the search and bring me to an appropriate page.

alkcxy commentedI can confirm that search404 works on Drupal 5 but there isn't any setting pages.
Are there any chances to see it ported to Drupal 5?

forngren commentedHi, I'm the new maintainer of s404. I intent to merge it with customerror, but it took longer than expected. Perhaps should I just release a quick port to 5.x for the people who needs it.

alkcxy commentedHi forngren,
I agree: it's better to release a quick port to drupal 5 and then merge it with custom error ;)
Anyway, thank you for your work

Comment #6
alkcxy commentedthx, i'll try it as soon as possible
Comment #7
forngren commentedFound some issues, will roll new update. It will take some time for the packaging scripts to get it though.
Comment #8
forngren commentedAlkcxy, you seems to be using search404 on your site, is it stable? Can I add a stable branch?
Comment #9
forngren commentedFixed http://drupal.org/node/128884

alkcxy commentedSorry i didn't try the latest version. I'll do it asap!
Comment #11
alkcxy commentedOk, I installed the latest version of search404. The settings page doesn't function properly yet. There is a blank page with only the title (obviously "Search 404 settings")

forngren commentedYou tried S404 stable? It works for me atleast
Comment #13
alkcxy commentedOk, I disabled the module and removed the directory. Then I re-uploaded and re-enabled it. Now it's ok! ;)
Thank you!
