When trying to enable the module I get:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function file_directory_path() in /.../sites/all/modules/recent_files/recent_files.module on line 12

According to http://api.drupal.org/api/drupal/includes--file.inc/function/file_directory_path/6 file_directory_path() is not used in D7.

I can't install the module. Is there a workaround, or can this be fixed?

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I have fixed the issue, and released 7.x-1.1 which fixes the install problem.
