Use CCK Fields from Content Profile

I understand that there are a variety of way in which to achieve this functionality but this module is such a life saver for so many people who can't code much (often the reason to choose a CMS like Drupal in the first place). However, for those that are trying to eek out the most of Drupal before they simply have to learn programming, the ability to reference CCK fields from a user's content profile node would be great. With the wide variety of different modules in D5 for users and profiles as nodes, I can understand that it's a bit of a pain to have to support them all but in D6, it appears that content profile (http://drupal.org/project/content_profile) is going to be the one and only.

From my failed attempts to do this at the theme layer, I gather that it's not terribly difficult but it's still a challenge for me. Any chance of making my life easier?
