I am using the vote up/down widget for voting and want to display it in a table view. I can edit the field to any of the rate widget options but it always switches back to Default appearance after saving. I followed the readme very carefully and upgraded to the latest dev version with no luck. Anyone else having this issue or any clue what I'm missing?

I am not able to reproduce this problem.
Did you try to test this with a clean install of Drupal?
Did you test both Rate 6.x-1.0 and the latest Rate 6.x-1.x-dev?
Did you try Clear Views' cache?

I was able to reproduce this error when using both Views 6.x-3.0-alpha3 and Views 6.x-3.x-dev.
So it seems to be a problem with views 3.
I tried using both Rate 6.x-1.1 and 6.x-1.x-dev with views 3 and the error occured for both.
I disabled everything except Views and Views UI when testing.

I had the same issue on Views 6.x-3.x-dev when trying to change the appearance of fivestars. I updated to Voting API 6.x-2.x-dev and it solved the problem for me.
