I did a fresh install of the quotes module on an Windows/Apache/MySQL system. I ran the administer => quotes => install successfully. I created several quotes without any problem, promoted them to the front page, and they display properly. But when I try to view the Quotes page (at ?q=quotes) or the quotes page of my user's account (at ?q=quotes/1), I get a "Page not found" error.

I then performed the same install /steps on a Linux/Apache/MySQL system (latest revisions of each). This yielded the same results for me *except* that when I log out on the Linux system, I can *then* view the quotes as an anonymous user (even though I can't as the root user!).

I went back and checked my Windows installation to see if logging out there would allow me to view the quotes on the Quotes page or the user's quotes page, but was greeted by "Page not found."

I'm surprised to not see any other postings regarding this issue as I have been able to duplicate it on two different systems running different operating systems. Anyone else having this issue or have a resolution to it?

Oddly, I have found that this morning, my Windows installation magically began working properly, though I have made no changes since last night.

Obviously, this could normally be chalked up to either browser caching or a need for cron.php to have been called. Only thing is, I have browser caching disabled in all of my browsers. Further, my Linux installation still does not work this morning. This, even though I've manually called cron.php several times to be certain in addition to killing/reloading my browser and forcing a flush of the cache flush (which should be a meaningless action in my scenario, but I have done so to be thoroughly paranoid that the problem with this module is the user -- me).

Well, maybe if I give it some more time my Linux installation will begin magically working as well?

This sounds like a menu caching problem. The menu system keeps track of mapping URL's to their appropriate PHP functions, and if a stale cache is sticking around, it can keep you from accessing URL's provided by new modules.

If this is the case, you should be able to fix this condition by navigating to admin->menus (or admin->settings, then clicking "save settings" if menu.module is disabled).

Well, unfortunately, the issue went away on its own before I could try your recommendation. I'll do so the next time I install if I encounter the issue again and post my results here.

It probably won't be too long. I've just set up another Drupal site, and I'm intending to add the Quotes module to it.

Thank you for your help.
