If anyone gets a spare moment, i think it would be worthwhile moving the html mark-up from the quicktabs_render function to a new theme function. This would allow themers more flexibilty on how the tabs are presented.

Either that or include a field in the quicktab edit form that allows users choose a position for the tabs (e.g. above tab content / below tab content).

I would make a patch for this myself, but I'm a bit pushed for time right now. Sorry!

#360478: How do I move the tabs below the blocks?

changing the html in quicktabs_render() may break the functionality. The themable parts have theme functions..

Fair enough. I was only suggesting moving the render mark-up into a theme function so that a themer could place the tabs markup wherever desired.

However, given the somewhat wishy-washy standards compliance on various browsers I still think there is benefit in giving quicktab editors the ability to place tabs above or below the tab content rather than relying on css.

I am on D7, not D6, but this is still relevant 1 1/2 years later, I still absolutely agree with this.

Is the only way to move the tabs (programmatically vs. visually) below the tabbed content to hack quicktabs.module?

Actually, I take this all back. :)

I was able to easily tie into a hook to alter what I needed.
