I was getting an error message trying to start Quickstart 0.8 VERR_NOT_SUPPORTED. After a little searching, I found that it can be due to trying to import from OSX to Windows XP and a suggested workaround of creating a new machine and manually importing the vmdk.
This worked for me. I created a new machine WQuickstart, and when asked for boot disk, I used the Quickstart file. And it appears to be working this way. Is it possible that more than one version of Quickstart is needed for installing on different machines? Anyone else have problems like this on Windows or other OSs?

I just loaded up the Quickstart 0.8 into VirtualBox inside of Windows 7 64 bit without any problems.

I'm using VirtualBox version 3.2.8 r64453, if it helps.

I was on Windows 7 64, but using Virtualbox 3.2.10. It worked..just couldn't start it directly from the file. Instead had to import into a newly created machine. So, only wanted to post in case this helps others.

@gozigzag

to your first question, no, you don't need different versions of Quickstart for different machines/OSs. You just have to install virtualBox and follow the *import* procedure outlined in the project page. Worked for me also under win7.

I'm closing this issue but it's still available for reference. Reopen if you need any further assistance.

cheers !

I am rather new at this. Am running XP. Followed the import procedures and am getting this error message VERR_NOT_SUPPORTED opening image file.
VT-x is not available (VERR_VMX_NO_VMX)
Any hints, please. Thanks.

Got it figured out. Too many Quickstart images; had to rename it.
