I am sure this is a stupid question(I am not IT:), but which VB download should I use. I am installing on MacBook Pro, and I was confused if I should use the Mac download or if it is creating a Linux-based environment on my mac and I should download the Linux one.

Use the OS X one. It is in the Virtualbox environment that you'll be able to install others OS (Windows, Ubuntu, Ubuntu [quickstart], Mac OS, etc.) from others environments.

And don't forget to download the "VirtualBox 4.1.8 Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack" on the download page. This file is multi plateforms.

thanks so much for the quick reply and the clarification. Makes sense now. May I bother you with another quick question:

I already have eclipse, drush, netbeans installed, will this interfere, should I remove them before installing?

Again, thank you so much. I really appreciate the help.

A Virtualbox environment, like the quickstart one, is like a computer in a computer. It's completly independant from your computer (call "the host"). You can create a "share" folder to share files between your computer (host) and your quickstart environment. Beside that, and some sharable networks configurations, it's independant.

Follow the quickstart instructions for creating the "share" folder if you need it.

gotcha, like a VPS. thanks again, and thank you for all the hard work on Quickstart. I am used to working on an Aegir VPS and I don't have to worry about anything, because they take of all that; so thank you for explaining things to me.

so sorry, I know you are busy, but this was not on the video tutorial. When I am at the Appliance Import Screen, there is an option at the bottom: Reinitialize the MAC address of all network cards. Should I check this or not?

I know that reinitialize it dosen't break anything but I'm not sure to know in which case that can be useful to do it.
Follow your heart, check docs and try something;)
