Each time I try and put the output for node_privacy_byrole in the advanced tab, it never does. When I go back into the quickpost settings, its set back to standard. It does this for all content types.

After further investigation, the database field for module wasn't big enough - the module name was being truncated. If I increased the module field size in the database, then this bug is fixed.

Does CVS mean the same directory that I can browse to under downloads->CVS, because this version doesn't seem to be working at all and has most of the blogs described as fixed.

No, CVS is when you use a CVS client to check things out. That download under "Downloads->CVS" is only updated every night I think. Unless you do a "cvs checkout" on the contributions repository as described in the developers guide, you're not getting the latest version.
