lets Link to admin stuff from dashboard. (although I would prefer core toolbar modification or http://drupal.org/project/navbar opposed to a theme dependend core menu-block. maybe configurable to use either/all?) & add configure icon beside the account button. currently we are forced to enable toolbar to access drupal http://drupal.org/node/1902838 and create an
editor role and permissions to edit tracks, artists, albums, events and users.

The target audience of a Drupal admin block (Toolbar, Navbar, etc) is very different than the Pushtape menu block. The former is best for those familiar with Drupal, the latter is suited best for those not accustomed to Drupal. Since Pushtape is an end user facing distribution, it would be unwise to expose the Drupal admin stuff right away. And those that already know Drupal, can easily turn on their favorite admin module/blocks. There shouldn't be any conflicts in keeping both.

The Pushtape menu-block is just a regular menu block and while Flux stylizes it, it should work fine in other themes as it is just a standard menu block.

Also there is already an artist role with edit permissions, so I'm not sure what you are looking for in the editor role...

I think it would be good to grant an obvious access to the admin menus to the admin user from scratch.

Perhaps by adding a step in the installation, after the creation of user/1, where the admin gets to create his "artist-user(s)" is a good option? As it is now, unless you know that there is something to be found on /admin, you might just miss out on alot of things.

i propose creating an editor role that can access admin and manage users, and maybe even access the toolbar (without being uid/1) along with the permission to edit any artists posts. as well as the artist terms.

What about a checkbox during installation that asks if you want to install the Drupal admin toolbar? If folks don't know what the Drupal admin bar is during installation, it will be detrimental for them to see it. On that same note, there should be some way to turn it on via the Pushtape dashboard too.

that sounds brilliant! but also create a special role that allows accessing the admin pages and manipulating users and such? so we dont have to give those permissions to artists.

I use admin_menu on all my instances. The good thing about it, is that any link you do not have access to dissapears, so other customization needed than proper permission settings. It is also very slim and slick.

i think we agre we need some way for users to get to admin interface, so changing the status.

@discipolo

Just a heads up, 7.x-beta1 has an "Advanced" link in the Pushtape menu block which links to the /admin page.
