This appears to be an issue with protected node and the node 'preview' button.

If you add password protection to an existing node and then click the preview button, you are prompted to enter the specified password. Entering the correct password at this stage results in the message 'incorrect password' and you are no longer able to view or save your node.

I believe this was fixed with all my corrections to the module.

The Preview would call the nodeapi with 'view' which in turn would call drupal_goto() to ask you for the password. What happened next, not too sure.
