Duplicate emails sent for my project's issues

I currently receive two copies whenever someone posts in an issue queue on the dhtml_menu project. I could understand (barely) if this happened with issues I had posted in, since then I would get one copy to the project maintainer address listed in the project and one to my user address.

But it appears to happen even for issues I haven't yet responded to. In that case, the issue should be sent only to the maintainer address. I haven't yet tried using different addresses for my account and the project to see which field is used...

Is this a known problem? Should I just stop sending all issue updates to my address, and instead take to visiting the queue regularly? That'd be a bit of an inconvenience too...
