Hi, I'm currently porting a D6 to D8 site. The previous site used privatemsg module which allowed anonymous users to leave their email in seperate field. Thus when the registered user replied, the message would go to the the listed email. Also, currently when anonymous user sends a message, their thread can be viewed by anyone just having a URL(private_messages/*).

Obviously, the later could be "fixed" quite easily, but as to the emailing part? Are there any plans for implementing it?
P.S. And a bonus question: I suppose there should not be problems migrating the old privatemsg messages to the this new module by using migrate tools & migrate plus modules?

I didn't know about that feature, interesting. It won't make it into the first version of the module, as there is essentially a feature freeze right now, however it's something to add to add after a full release has been made.

Yeah, the module isn't designed to work with anonymous users. So if you give anonymous users permission to use the module, anyone will be able to view threads.

The modules have a fundamentally different architecture, so I'd be surprised if a migration was that easy. A migration tool would be nice at some point, but the first priority is a full release, which is still quite a ways off.
