Based on Documentation and other posts I found in this module's issues, the correct URL structure should be:
/node/add/job-listing?edit[field_provider][und]=yes

Unfortunately, that did not work.

I have been able to populate the Title field but not any select List (text) fields.

How can this be fixed?

I had this same issue with 7.x-2.1 not populating a select list. #38 in https://www.drupal.org/node/2679839 worked for me.

It's old, but for anyone that ends up here from google, try the dev version as https://www.drupal.org/node/2679839 suggested. I had the same issue and the patch committed to dev branch solved it.
Close as duplicate with the issue mentioned above.
