Under Drupal 7.14 I did an uninstall of this module.

  1. I disabled the module (added the field but never configured it in user fields area). Deleted it without adding type/etc.
  2. I Uninstalled module under Uninstall after disabling it (and deleting from user fields ^).

Result:
the module is now gone from the "uninstall area/tab" of modules.
bug-
the module still appears (though still disabled) in the main module area under fields subheading.

This is default Drupal behaviour. To remove it from the list you should remove the module folder from /sites/modules.
