I moved a site from Drupal 5.5 to 6.4 all my links show site/name of page. Now I notice that all my links have a ?q= between the name of the site and the name of the page. I think it makes more sense not to have the "?q=" unless someone can explain otherwise. If it can be removed, please tell me how. Thanks

michelleGo to ?q=admin/settings/clean-urls and turn on clean URLs. This has nothing to do with the pathauto module.

shimba commentedThanx a million Michelle. I actual spent unnecessary time trying to figure out why pathauto wasn't fixing it.
