It shows that when duplicate title found then automatically it sets numeric at the end.
example:
1. /mytitle (for first one)
2./my title-0 (for Second one)

If there is a option that can resist duplicate post. Then would be usefull. When duplicate found drupal will say "duplicate title and please change title name or post as comment"

thank u

Title: No duplicate Title Allowed » prevent users from submitting a duplicate title
Component: Miscellaneous » Code
Assigned: bdtushar » Unassigned
Status: Active » Closed (won't fix)

This sounds like a great feature...but it is outside the scope of what Pathauto should be doing. So, it would be a great feature for a different module.

I am also looking for the same. If some one submits the post with same title twice, Drupal should have the ability to stop that post from being submitting until submitter makes changes in the Post title.

anyone find a solution to this?

I have created a node type 'homepage' assigned to the url alias [subdomain] using the subdomain module. MY goal is that each of my uses could have their own homepage on my website at http://[username].mydomain.com. However I only want them to create one homepage and edit that from there. Currently if they try to create a second homepage node the node is created and pathauto puts it at http://[username]-0.mydomain.com.

I would love a feature in pathauto that allows me to refuse the submission of duplicate paths forcing the user to change their title or in my case not create a second homepage node. Anyone with any ideas?

I see that the pathauto module maintainers say they will not fix this. Why not, seems like a useful feature for pathauto.

SOLUTION: I plan to use node limit number for my problem.
However, it does still seem useful to me to enable path auto users to decide to reject duplicate paths if they prefer
