Maybe not strictly a Pathauto issue, but I'm wondering why blogs/don (a Pathauto-generated URL alias) does not really alias blog/2 (which the Path module shows is the original)?
Instead of seeing a page with "Don's Blog" at the top when I go to blogs/don, I see a page that is identical to , with the mission statement up top and teasers for my blog. I thought this might be a theme issue, but even Garland shows the same behavior. blogs/admin (blog/1) does the exact same thing: it shows the mission statement, followed by teasers for Don's blog.

gregglesWhat is in your url_alias table for those "dst" values?
gregglesIt seems like you had a similar problem once before, right: http://drupal.org/node/184738
Comment #3
mrtoner commentedsrc and dst:
blog/1 blogs/admin
blog/1/feed blogs/admin/feed
blog/2 blogs/don
blog/2/feed blogs/don/feed
Yes, this is similar to the other issue, except that a Page Not Found error would occur in that issue. Here, blogs/don or blogs/admin gives me the front page (I've left off the angle brackets this time :-) I've given you some more information on that issue there. I think I resolved that by emptying the cache, but that doesn't work for this issue.
gregglesIf you delete these aliases and create them manually does it work?
I've never seen this behavior before so I'm not sure how to fix this.
gregglesI ran into a similar but different problem today. My blog aliases weren't being created because of this scenario:
1. Enable pathauto and save configuration
2. Enable blog module
3. Create a user account for user2 uid = 2
Expected Results:
Alias is created a blog/user2 for the path blog/2
Actual results:
No alias is generated for blog/2 because there is no pattern set for the blog path! If there is no pattern set then Pathauto assumes it should do nothing and doesn't create the alias.
It sounds somewhat similar to your scenario, but obviously different (since your aliases are generated, but they somehow point to the wrong place).
@mrtoner - Please let me know if you can fix the problem by editing or creating these paths manually at example.com/admin/build/path Otherwise I will close this issue after two weeks without a response.
mrtoner commentedSorry for the delay. No, creating the path manually doesn't work if the destination is blogs/don -- that alias, instead of showing blog/2, shows the front page. An alias of blogger/don works -- it shows blog/2.
I checked to make sure that my front page is not defined as the 404 page. I can't think of any reason that blogs/anything is always showing the front page. blogs/don will show the front page even if that alias doesn't exist.
gregglesTry manually creating it with:
System path: blog/2
Alias: blogs/don
If that works then the Pathauto way should work as well.
mrtoner commentedNo, a manually-created alias of blogs/don shows the front page instead of blog/2. A manually-created alias of anything else pointing to blog/2 goes to blog/2.
gregglesDo I understand you right or is it broken using the default path interface as well? If it can't be done using the manual path interface, how can pathauto be expected to do it?
Did you figure this out?
alkcxy commentedMrtoner, are you using url redirect? Maybe is there the problem! See into admin/build/path_redirect for a redirect to home
Comment #11
neclimdulThis doesn't make sense to me either. I couldn't reproduce it either...
This doesn't help get to the bottom of the issue but I've always found this situation easier to just use the views module and a custom blog content type or alternatively a custom module instead of blog. Both are fairly easy to do since blog is a very simple module.

gregglesWell then - closing.
