It's my understanding the purpose of the module is to create 301 redirects, why won't it override an existing path? Can it only redirect to and from aliases that are completely different?
I've migrated an installation to new server space and a new URL so I want to redirect all the nodes;
www.oldaddress.com/node/1 to www.newaddress.com/node/1
Any help would be appreciated

dave reid@mammasan The module is used mostly when URL alises are changed within the same domain. If you're moving from one domain to the other, you'll want to use URL rewrite rules. See Google and the .htaccess file in your site's root for examples.

mammasan commentedThanks David,
The reason I came chose this module is that on more than one site it's suggested that Path Redirect is a drupal based substitute for manually configuring the htaccess file. Just goes to show you can't believe everything you read on the internet!

dave reidLike I said, it works great if URLs change within the same domain, but when you have *mass* changes like moving to a new domain, rewrite rules will always be easier and faster.
