Add redirect on node creation

Sounds weird? Here's the use case.

I have a new site, which is empty. I have an old site, which is full. Of a lot of stuff. Unfortunately, because the old site is extremely lacking in any kind of real structure, there's no feasible way to import the old pages.

Obviously, having the old pages be redirected in some/most cases when they are "replicated" as new ones begs the case: can I please add a redirect when I create this node manually?

I'm thinking that if we have path/pathauto/path_redirect enabled, and there is a nodeapi hook called "old url", this can be simply used to hook into the existing redirect creation mechanism provided by path_redirect. I would think this is not a "required" feature, but it would certainly be useful in cases where sites are being re/created from scratch.
