we created Field clone and Paragraphs Tools to have a modular approach to the paragraphs_defaults problem (it was imortant to have several presets per paragraphs bundle).

So when someone needs this for D8, let's see how to join forces.

We are definitely in need of a solution like this for paragraphs to help streamline the creation of content. Currently takes quite a bit of time to setup a page with all the relevant paragraphs, anyway this can be automated with preset defaults would be a great boost to allot of teams.

Unable to provide the development time right now but this on our radar and would gladly try help the task in any way we can.

Not had a chance to test field clone and paragraph tools sufficiently but the descriptions for using them would definitely need abstracting into a GUI for content editors to use. A module to wrap this into a page building process would be ideal. Something akin to panels approach but with more modularity.. possibly allowing for multiple paragraph presets to be applied to each paragraph field on a node.
