This bug report is related to http://drupal.org/node/307287
As of October 13 dev/alpha2 version it is still not possible to pass arguments to views. For that brahms has provided a very small patch in the above link to solve the problem. The patch is still open for "patch (needs code review)"
Assuming the patch is correct, it exposes another problem:
Title of Views are not displayed
As a temporary hack, so that titles _are_ displayed after all, I have to manually set the override title in the views pane.
Replicating the problem:
0. Apply Brahms patch (see above link to understand problem). You are now able to pass arguments to views
1. Have a View that sets its title dynamically through arguments section. E.g. "Entries in %1" (where %1 could be perhaps a taxonomy ID.)
2. Pass an argument through view panes
3. Go to the Panel Page which contains the above Views Pane
4. You should see that the Views Pane title is blank. (A title only appears by setting the override title which is a hack.)
Also as a side note, it may be noted that the system does not respect the "Send Arguments" checkbox in Views Panes. Whether or not the checkbox is enabled the arguments are sent (after applying brahms patch).
Not being able to pass arguments to a view (and the related problem in this bug report after applying brahms' patch) is a pretty serious problem and I am hoping the maintainers can commit a solution to CVS as soon as feasible....especially since alpha2 is now out..
Thanks,
Sidharth

mleicester commentedI believe this occurs because
$block->subject = $view->get_title();(line 151 of panels_views.module) is executed before the view is rendered. Move this line of code down after$block->content = $view->preview($display, $args);(line 167, note that this line was$block->content = $view->preview();prior to brahms' patch).Comment #2
TheRec commentedSubscribing. In latest -dev the argument passing seems fixed (didn't test all the extends, mostly by lack of knowledge of how all the possibilites are handled), but the custom titles depending on views arguments are still not working, only title I was able to display is by forcing the title of the Panel pane in the View or by override in the panel settings ("Content" tab of the Panel page).
I am also wondering if it would be possible to override the HTML by that custom view title, because at the moment it only uses the title of the Panel page even when I use overriding in the Panel pane settings when I configure the content of the Panel page. But that sounds more like a feature request maybe ?

esmerel commentedPanels can send arguments to views in panels3 - if we're talking about the same thing, then your fix is Panels 3. Please give this another try with the newest version and open a new issue if there's still a problem in that release.
