"add translation" does not add a translation

hello and thanks for the great module!
Straight to the gist: the "add translation" button when translating a panel node creates a new node and correctly sets the language of the new node, but does not link it to the original node as its translation. As a workaround I am doing this manually by messing with the tnid field at the node table.
I guess it's the fact that when I hit "add translation" I am taken to the layout selection page, and the "?translation=nid&language=lang" part of the path is not preserved. Hope that helps!
