When I try to add the buddy list feature (or any other panel) to the advanced profile page I get "an error occurred while trying to process the pane configuration modal form" and I am unable to add anything/proceed.

Also, when I try to edit the topics I have participated in section to add other node types (or change it in anyway for that matter) I get "An illegal choice has been detected. Please contact the site administrator."

I know a good amount about drupal but I can't seem to figure this out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hmmm. i am getting this too, but when adding new custom content on the mini-panel for the All About User pane.

i wonder if this is an issue with panels2...

I also think this is an issue with Panels2.
What version of Panels2 are you running at the moment? I recently upgraded to Panels2Beta4b and had to roll back to b3 due to issues experienced similar to yours. B5 is out now, but I am waiting for an RC before I upgrade again.

I have this exact problem-- but it happens every single time the javascript window pane is brought up. I have yet to see it execute successfully. This means I am completely unable to configure my panels.

Oh I should mention I just installed today-- so I'm using 2b5 on panels and 1a4 on APK.

Geez. This was a mistake on my part, so I thought I'd post my solution in case it's useful. I had installed Secure Pages module with admin/* and Firebug immediately diagnosed the problem as an https:// request trying to reach an http:// page and was being denied.
