Strange.. it wants to print a double title every time, no matter what settings I choose. If I choose override title, then where the second title is it prints the override title. I suppose this is great for a subtitle but not really needed at this point.

Any ideas?

merlinofchaos commentedThis is probably due to some minor weirdness in how Panels has to handle node titles; theme_panel_pane wants to own the title of panels, but theme_node (aka your node.tpl.php) also wants to own the title. It's probably easiest to fix this in your node.tpl.php and check, but you might also be able to set the 'page' option in the node content dialog.

jjohnsonBLC commentedI just ran into this problem and fixed it by editing my page.tpl.php file. I'm really not that familiar with themes, but I added a check to see if $node->title == null. I got this idea from the readme packaged with Panels. Here is the exact line from my file (I imagine it'll be different from theme to theme, but should be a little similar, I think):
if ($title && $node->title == NULL): print '<h2'. ($tabs ? ' class="with-tabs"' : '') .'>'. $title .'</h2>'; endif;Comment #3
