Love the added flexibility panels provides for Drupal sites!
I'm developing a site in which I want an administrator to create panel_node pages (with various fields and taxonomies added) and then assign authorship/ownership of each page to a different user.
The user should be able to edit the contents of the fields on the page they were assigned and select taxonomy terms.
They should NOT be able to fiddle with the layout or the views included in the panel_node display. And they should NOT be able to edit the content of pages they are not the owner/author of.
This arrangement does not seem to be possible with the existing panel_node module access control permissions.
It seems that various other content types make this possible by establishing an "edit own" permission level separate from the "create" and "administer" levels.
Would greatly appreciate it if this feature could be added.

merlinofchaos commentedLet me see if I can boil this down to a list of actual features. Please check me if I'm right or wrong:
o You need users to be able to edit panels they own but not actually create panels.
o You need a permission to prevent a user from changing the layout of a panel they otherwise have permission to edit? This probably means not being able to edit the layout settings on the flexible panel, either.
Right now, an 'edit own' would make the panel node completely uneditable. Though that permission makes sense.

btopro commentedUsually I don't see 'edit own' used by itself but in conjunction with other permissions it is useful.

sdboyer commentedI'm marking this postponed. The entire question of more granular permissions such as these is pretty much something that's going to be answered in panels3, as it's part of a much larger set of questions.

brunodboI probably have another one for this:
I have a pane that I want to show on the user's profile page (which I defined as a panel), and visible only to the user that corresponds to the profile page, when that user is logged in (I want to create a pane that displays a user's nodes 'in progress', that aren't published on the site yet).
Is it a good idea to create a thread on g.d.o where we can collect these persmission related questions? (Perhaps a similar thread exists already, but I didn't find it.)

esmerel commentedPanels 3 has significant changes from Panels 2. No features will be added to Panels 2.
