Hi, I tried making exposed filters in views and showing them in panels via a views pane and a block, and I can get both to show up but after I hit search, I cannot get the results to show up. I am not using ajax, just a note about that. Some people in another thread noticed it could be a problem.

Is there anything I can do to fix this? I am trying to make individual home pages for each section of the site and a big part of these homepages is a search filter. If I can't use panels, what is another good strategy for making this happen?

This functionality works fine to my knowledge, I use it myself. You'll need to walk me through how to reproduce the problem.

I figured it out. Sorry for wasting anyones time here. In the settings I had inherit path check marked and that was messing everything up. I have no idea what inherit path means here, so it would be great if someone could tell me though.

I haven't had use for that myself, but I assume it can be used when you have the filters on one page, and want to redirect to another one with the results. :) Glad you got it working.
