hello,
the search didn't show anything helpful, so i have to ask.
i'm using a flexible layout and it works fine, but: there are spaces between the regions or rows and i don't know, how to control them correctly.
as shown in the screenshots, there is a big horizontal one under the first region. but i don't find any big margins with firebug and so i don't know how to reduce the space with assigning css classes to a region or so. should i work with negative values of margins? is there any documentation about my problem / the detailed theming of panels (i didn't find details for my problem)?
(weird: i identified 2 lines with
and deleted them in firebug for demonstration. i added such class in the style.css of panels with attribut margin:0 tried it and removed it. now, after clearing all caches they are still disappeared and please please don't ask me why. but the space is still to big and the questions above still open).
thanks for any help,
karsten

klaasklever commentedi found this http://drupal.org/node/579020 but i don't know how to "neutralize" (hide?) elements with css (but i will look for a solution) and perhaps someone could tell me, if this would be a good solution for hiding separators? (like written on the linked page).

height: 0px;

Tafa commentedthere is another layout style you can use which has less space than the flexible layout. It's called panels three four layout. If the above is taking too much of your time, have a look at it.

klaasklever commentedthx for the suggestion, but the several parts of three four don't expand - i get a mosaic like page with missing parts. i will keep three four for other purposes. custom layouting panels with views behind seems to be a bit complicated (css) - i switched to a two column stacked layout as a workaround.

wjaspers commentedIf your site uses lots of common layouts, you might be better off hard-coding a Layout plugin for your theme. Believe-it-or-not, this is really easy to do, and outputs cleaner code. If your theme is using 960, this will be a breeze. If not, you'll need to add some CSS to structure your blocks.
I suggest grabbing the Zen theme, or Zen 960 (I don't remember which includes panels layouts). Open up the "layouts" folder inside the theme, and crack into the .inc and .tpl files for each layout. It's relatively straight-forward. If you want, I have a panels write-up on how-to build your own layouts as well.

klaasklever commentedhey wjaspers,
thanks for your reply and my late one. at the moment i'm using fusion and the mix and match subtheme. i'm using 960px, but only because it is difficult to use the flexible layout with thinner text columns on most text pages without thinning the whole layout. sound chaotic? :) i'm still searching for a good compromise for all (i'm beginner in drupal). that's why i have to look, if your suggestions are easy enough for me and i will test zen theme, i think and i will have to take some time to understand the inc.-files thing.
thank you very much,
karsten

wjaspers commentedIt also looks like you're trying to use the Panels "rounded corners" style with drop-shadows. I don't suggest using this output style. I'm working on making a CSS3 compliant rounded panels style (as well as a CSS3 box-shadow style). In this manner, you don't have to worry about the extra output and image slicing Panels currently does, and just specify the corner radius and/or shadow dimensions. Browsers that don't support these features yet won't display them, and browsers that do, will! The added benefits are clean output and no dimension calculation headaches.

Letharion commentedIt seems to me like the original question has it's answer in #2, controlling the size of the Panels separators.
Also, while this is obviously related to Panels, the issue queue is not really the place for CSS discussions :)
