How can I adjust the code so that page 1 shows as ?page=1 instead of ?page=0 in the URL?

Can't be done in paging.module. It's how Drupal's pager.inc requires it to be.

Really? There's no way to theme, or override this at all? Isn't this kind of bad UI design (speaking about pager.inc)?
