Hello, I am a Drupal newbie so please forgive me if I am asking a stupid question or not posting this in the right place. I installed the Pagination module which is wonderful (thank you!) but in my template, I need to isolate the pagination links and place them in a particular place in my markup, not with the other links such as add comment, statistics etc. If I say print $links in my template, I get all the links but I really need to isolate the pagination links for use in a particular area of my markup. I cannot figure out how to do this. I've looked at documentation and forums and searched for a solution but I am coming up empty so I am making the request here.

Can someone please help me?

Thank you very much in advance.

Hey there,

Sorry this request seemed to have slipped through the cracks. Are you basically looking for a way to place the pager somewhere else? I think I could work a way so there's an optional $pager variable say that you can place in a custom theme (in node.tpl.php). Let me know if that's what you were thinking of.

Hello mundowen,

Thank you for your reply. Yes, exactly, according to my design I need to place my pagination links in a particular place and I cannot easily isolate them from the $links variable (which also includes the markup for all the other links such as Add Comment and Read More etc.). The only way for me to get the pagination links to show up is to say print $links; which then dumps out the markup for all the other links as well and it is making the designer angry, not to mention the client! :-)

Can you help me please?

Thank you very much.

Hi there,

I have updated the dev release (it rebuilds itself every 12 hours, so the next build of it will contain the change) to provide a $pager variable that you can access in your theme's node.tpl.php file.

It will contain the pager (without links) regardless of your pagination style (so you can disable the default pager, and use the $pager variable within your theme's node.tpl.php file to place the pager somewhere else).
