I was looking at the different between 7.x-3.x-dev and 7.x-3.0-beta-1 and it looks like themeregion is becoming deprecated? In commit #a0424a5 on August 1,2013 the following code was removed from openlayers_plus.module:
'openlayers_plus_behavior_themeregion' => array(
'type' => 'layer',
'title' => t('OL+: Theme Region'),
'description' => t('Inserts Drupal Theme Regions on top of the map.'),
'behavior' => array(
'path' => drupal_get_path('module', 'openlayers_plus') . '/behaviors',
'file' => 'openlayers_plus_behavior_themeregion.inc',
'class' => 'openlayers_plus_behavior_themeregion',
'parent' => 'openlayers_behavior',
),
),
I would assume based on this commit that this feature is going away? Can someone clue me in if I'm reading too much into this? Thanks a lot!

batje commentedYou are right. Themeregions used a very ugly javascript trick to place items on top of the map. They have been superseeded with Maptext.
I will work on the Maptext implementation a lot this week, so its going to be better cooler and might break with the current implementation.
