Problem/Motivation

Enabling or installing openfed_multilingual can fail with unmet configuration dependencies:

Configuration objects provided by openfed_multilingual have unmet dependencies: openfed_multilingual.language.content_settings.media.iframe (media.type.iframe), openfed_multilingual.language.content_settings.media.javascript (media.type.javascript), openfed_multilingual.language.content_settings.media.svg (media.type.svg)

The issue occurs because openfed_multilingual ships language content settings for media bundles that do not exist yet (or are not installed) on the target site.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Install a Drupal site where media types iframe, javascript, and svg are not present.
  2. Enable or install openfed_multilingual.
  3. Observe installation/import failure due to missing dependencies on media.type.iframe, media.type.javascript, and media.type.svg.

Proposed resolution

Adjust openfed_multilingual so it does not enforce configuration for media bundles that may not exist on all installations.
Possible approaches:

  1. Move the affected language.content_settings.media.* configuration to optional config so it is imported only when the related media types exist.
  2. Split bundle-specific multilingual settings into a submodule that depends on the module(s) providing iframe, javascript, and svg media types.
  3. If these media types are mandatory, explicitly declare/install the provider dependency before importing multilingual config.

Remaining tasks

  1. Confirm whether iframe, javascript, and svg media types are optional or required in OpenFed distributions.
  2. Update configuration packaging (default vs optional/submodule) based on that decision.
  3. Verify installation paths on a site with and without these media bundles.
  4. Update related installation or maintenance documentation.
