Have you checked the views integration?

It's still quite basic but you probably can drop the integration code and replace it by a view.

Checkout (or better edit) http://drupal.org/node/1398400 for display types using the views integration.

Graph API maybe change it's interface. So the recommended way is to use views integration available through Graph API.
